So you’ve called to arrange a pick-up and the driver is on his way to your office. Here’s your checklist for a smooth and brief interaction:
1. Safety: if you have fragile/delicate items such as glass, use bubble wrap, packing peanuts, or your preferred protective material to blanket and secure your items.
2. Labels: Print out the labels that was emailed to you during the time of booking. Use a window envelope to ensure the shipper and consignee information is clearly displayed. If you don’t have window envelopes, ask the driver to provide one for you.
3. Tape/Secure: The physical box must be properly secured and taped. All openings should be closed. An unsecured box could result in delays and missing items. Be sure to double check by firmly pressing down on the box to check for gaps within your taped section.
Bonus Tip: Include a copy of your commercial invoice into the box. You'll also want to send an electronic version to a customer service representative.
That’s it, you’re all set for a smooth pick-up! Always confirm with your customer service representative prior to pick-up about the safety and materials of your shipment. They’ll cover topics such as Dangerous Goods, commercial invoices, taxes and other pertinent information.
